Leonard Clark is a one off explorer/wanderer. He appears to have no fear, survives what appears to be stupid decisions and has a depth of knowledge thru escapades and journeys through out the world. I first came across " The rivers ran East" his journey through the Jungle
by all accounts he should never have survived that or his time as undercover spy through out Asia. To Die presumably quietly in a Venezuelan jungle possibly from Malaria seems an anticlimax
